Frisco ISD athletes achieved significant success at the UIL State Track and Field Championships in Austin, securing four state titles and 11 medals. The Heritage boys team had an impressive performance, tying for second place in the 5A boys team standings.
Heritage junior CJ Williams made a notable impact by winning the discus with a new 5A state meet record throw of 201 feet, 4 inches. He also excelled in the shot put competition, achieving a personal best and taking gold with a distance of 66-3¼. Senior Cordial Vann from Heritage claimed victory in the long jump with a mark of 24-11, surpassing his regional meet distance by nearly two feet.
In another highlight, Lone Star junior Davian Groce won the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.52 seconds. In this event, FISD was well-represented as Heritage’s Sunmi Akinyeye earned silver in the girls’ race while Emerson’s Corrine Purnell finished fourth.
Other medalists from FISD included Independence’s Aarya Krishnan, who secured silver in the wheelchair 400 and bronze in the wheelchair 100. She also placed sixth in seated shot put. Liberty’s Cayley Beaumont finished second in the girls’ long jump and Emerson’s Caitlyn Johnson took bronze in triple jump.
Panther Creek junior Jaden Lott won silver medals in both high jump and long jump during the 4A meet.
Overall, FISD student-athletes placed within the top five positions across 17 events at the state level.
