Athletic programs in Frisco ISD aim to develop student-athletes by fostering character, sportsmanship, and academic achievement. The 2024-25 school year highlighted significant achievements both for teams and individual students.

Two Frisco ISD teams secured state championships during this period. In October, Centennial won the 5A team tennis championship for the second consecutive year, maintaining their No. 1 ranking throughout the season. A month later, Wakeland made history by becoming the first FISD team to win a state volleyball title, sweeping Cedar Park in the 5A Division II championship match after an intense semifinal against Argyle.

Four other FISD teams were state runners-up. The Reedy girls swim and dive team, which had been the 2024 5A state champion, was among them. The others included Wakeland girls soccer, Centennial girls golf, and Heritage boys track and field.

Additionally, five FISD teams finished either in the top three at state level or as state semifinalists: Wakeland boys cross country (3rd), Wakeland boys swim and dive (3rd), Panther Creek girls swim and dive (3rd), Memorial girls basketball (5A Division II semifinalist), and Heritage boys basketball (5A Division I semifinalist).

FISD athletes also achieved notable individual successes across various sports including golf, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, and wrestling. They secured 36 medals in individual events with ten athletes emerging as individual state champions:

– Jackson Armour from Wakeland won two championships in swimming.
– CJ Williams from Heritage claimed two championships in track and field.
– Cordial Vann from Heritage excelled in track and field.
– Davian Groce from Lone Star triumphed in track and field.
– Michael Brennan from Wakeland won a wrestling championship.
– Luke Colton from Wakeland succeeded in golf.
– Aaditt Rishi/Addison Rosser from Lebanon Trail prevailed in tennis doubles.
– Aariz Rehman from Panther Creek excelled in tennis singles.
