Frisco Independent School District (FISD) has announced new transfer options for students, providing more flexibility for families both within and outside the district. These changes aim to facilitate continuity in education and broaden access to FISD’s offerings.
The district will now allow families who initially enrolled but later moved out of the district, as well as those with grandparents residing within FISD boundaries, to enroll or remain in the district. Students can also continue attending their current campus even if they move to a different address within Frisco ISD.
Additionally, Frisco ISD is introducing “Access Frisco: Virtual,” a new virtual learning platform set to launch in the 2026-27 school year. This initiative will cater to various educational needs, offering full-time online learning, hybrid options, and individual courses that can supplement other educational environments such as charter schools, private institutions, or homeschooling. Further details about this program will be provided soon.
These measures underscore Frisco ISD’s dedication to keeping students connected and supported while extending educational opportunities to more families seeking quality public education.
Students who have completed at least one year at an FISD school and move mid-year or between school years within the district can apply for a Stay-Put Transfer. If approved, these students may remain at their original campus for all grade levels available there. However, this option does not apply to campus changes due to rezoning.
The application window for Stay-Put Transfers for the 2025-26 school year is open from June 10 through July 30, 2025.
Students with at least one year’s attendance in FISD schools may also continue their education in the district if their family relocates outside its boundaries. This option supports stability in friendships and academic progress without disruption. The Legacy Transfer window is also open from June 10 through July 30, 2025.
Furthermore, students entering kindergarten through ninth grade can attend FISD schools if they have a grandparent living within district limits, subject to enrollment capacity. Applications for Grandparent Transfers begin on June 23, 2025.
These new transfer options complement existing ones such as in-district transfers for available-capacity campuses; employee-student transfers; Access Frisco for students outside district boundaries; and provisions for students living apart from guardians under specific conditions.
FISD considers each transfer request individually while adhering to Administrative Transfer Guidelines designed to ensure fairness in decision-making.
