Rep. Keith Self, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 3rd district, shared his views on social media regarding various issues of public interest. Self, who replaced Van Taylor in 2023, has been vocal about policy reforms and economic matters.
On May 13, 2025, Rep. Keith Self expressed concern over Medicaid spending, stating that “the American people are with us on reform” and criticizing Washington politicians for their reluctance to address the issue. He highlighted the dissatisfaction among citizens about “cutting Medicaid checks for healthy 30 year-olds playing video games all day,” attributing the lack of action to political fear “Correct. And what’s really sad is that the American people are with us on reform! They don’t want to continue cutting Medicaid checks for healthy 30 year-olds playing video games all day… It’s the Washington politicians who don’t get it. Too afraid of their own shadows.”
Later that day, Self posted a succinct tweet featuring only an emoji indicating precision or correctness “”. The context or subject of this post was not elaborated upon.
In another tweet on May 13, Self commented on economic indicators, noting a significant drop in inflation rates to 2.3%, which he described as “the LOWEST since COVID.” He attributed these economic improvements to what he termed as “#TRUMPEFFECT,” highlighting reductions in egg prices, gas prices for three consecutive months, and grocery prices experiencing their most substantial decline in nearly five years “April inflation comes in lower than expected — now at 2.3%, the LOWEST since COVID. #TRUMPEFFECT Egg prices down Gas drops 3rd month in a row Grocery prices see biggest fall in nearly 5 years”.
Keith Self was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1953 and currently resides in McKinney at age 70.
