Keith Self, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 3rd district since 2023, has recently shared his views on various issues through social media posts. Self, who succeeded Van Taylor, uses his platform to discuss matters related to healthcare for seniors, border security, and veterans’ benefits.
On May 14, 2025, Keith Self addressed the allocation of Medicaid resources in a tweet directed at seniors. He questioned the prioritization of “able-bodied work-capable adults” over senior citizens. In his tweet, he stated that “your 30-year old healthy neighbor who won’t work and plays video games all day will have 90% of his healthcare costs covered,” whereas only “50% to 77%” is covered for seniors.
Later that day, Self commented on border security with a post highlighting Tom Homan’s efforts against the Tren De Aragua gang members. In his tweet, he wrote: “Rumor has it, he eats nails for breakfast. The man who tracks down Tren De Aragua gang members while you sleep! Border Czar @RealTomHoman!”
Additionally, Self expressed concerns about veterans’ benefits in another post on the same day. He emphasized the importance of delivering correct benefits without errors to veterans and pointed out the consequences of misused payment systems. His tweet read: “Veterans deserve to receive the correct benefits the first time — without errors. When payment systems are misused or abused, both the American taxpayer and the veteran suffer.”
Keith Self was born in Philadelphia in 1953 and currently resides in McKinney.
