Lone Star and Wakeland, both undefeated so far this high school football season, are set to face each other on Friday, October 24 at Kuykendall Stadium. The outcome of this matchup will determine which team remains unbeaten and takes the lead in the District 5-5A Division I standings.

In recent history, Wakeland has claimed victory in two of the last three meetings against Lone Star, with wins recorded in 2022 and last year. This gives Wakeland a rare winning record against Lone Star over the past three seasons. However, Lone Star won the first eight matchups between these teams from 2014 to 2021, resulting in an overall series record of nine wins for Lone Star and two for Wakeland.

Last year’s game between these teams is remembered for its dramatic conclusion. The contest ended with a score of 65-59 after overtime, highlighted by a play where a player took the ball from an opposing ballcarrier and returned it downfield to secure Wakeland’s win.

This season’s meeting will take place at Kuykendall Stadium. Currently, Lone Star holds a 7-0 record and is ranked No. 2 in the Dallas Morning News 5A area rankings. Wakeland enters the game at 8-0 and is ranked No. 9.

Tickets for Friday’s game can be purchased online through tickets.friscoisd.org.
