Rep. Keith Self, a U.S. Congressman who won re-election in 2024 with 62.5% of the vote against Sandeep Srivastava, has used his social media platform to address the ongoing government shutdown, attributing responsibility to Senate Democrats.

On October 11, 2025, Self posted on X: “It’s Day 11 of the Democrat Shutdown. @HouseGOP did our jobs to keep the government open and passed a clean CR. It’s time for Senate Democrats to do the same.”

The following day, October 12, Self reiterated his message: “It’s Day 12 of the Democrat Shutdown. @HouseGOP did our jobs to keep the government open and passed a clean CR. It’s time for Senate Democrats to do the same.”

On October 13, Self continued his series of posts: “It’s Day 13 of the Democrat Shutdown. @HouseGOP did our jobs to keep the government open and passed a clean CR. It’s time for Senate Democrats to do the same.”

Self’s statements come amid an extended federal government shutdown that he attributes to inaction by Senate Democrats regarding a continuing resolution (CR) passed by House Republicans.

Keith Self previously secured his congressional seat by defeating Sandeep Srivastava in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections, with victory margins of approximately 60.5% and 62.5%, respectively.
