Rep. Keith Self, a U.S. Congressman from Texas, made several posts on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on October 3, 2025, commenting on the ongoing government funding negotiations and expressing views on federal spending priorities.

In one post at 17:35 UTC, Rep. Self addressed the situation in the Senate by stating, “The Schumer Shutdown could end today, if just FIVE more Democrat Senators do the right thing, stop holding government funding hostage, and vote yes on the clean CR!” He attributed responsibility for the shutdown to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and urged Democratic senators to support a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government.

Earlier that day at 16:51 UTC, Rep. Self shared a separate post linking to additional content: https://t.co/qYA6sVQ5K1.

At 17:48 UTC, he posted appreciation for President Biden and Secretary Rubio while emphasizing fiscal oversight of taxpayer dollars: “Thank you, @POTUS and @SecRubio! We must ensure every penny of U.S. taxpayer dollars—at the @StateDept and all agencies—prioritizes American values, not the woke agenda.”

Rep. Keith Self has held his congressional seat since defeating Sandeep Srivastava in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections; he won with approximately 60.5% of votes in 2022 and increased his margin to about 62.5% in 2024.

These statements come as Congress faces pressure to resolve budget disputes and prevent a lapse in federal government operations.
