Rep. Keith Self, a U.S. Congressman who won re-election in both 2022 and 2024 against Sandeep Srivastava, has used his social media platform to comment on Democratic Party priorities, the ongoing government shutdown, and his views on Sharia law.

On October 16, 2025, Rep. Self posted: “Democrat priorities:

Free healthcare for illegal aliens? YES
Millions to left-wing news outlets? YES
Transgender surgeries for everyone? YES
$1.5 trillion in additional spending? YES
Pay our troops? NO
Ensure the needy are taken care of? NO

The following day, he addressed the ongoing government shutdown, stating: “It’s Day 17 of the Democrat Shutdown.

@HouseGOP did our jobs to keep the government open and passed a clean CR.

It’s time for Senate Democrats to do the same.” (October 17, 2025)

Later that day, Rep. Self shared his perspective on Sharia law: “Sharia:

Incompatible with the U.S. Constitution

Undermines the rights of women and children

Rejects tolerance for other religions

This is a dangerous ideology intent on conquering our country.

Defend the West. Defend America.

Stop Sharia.” (October 17, 2025)

Rep. Self’s recent statements come after his electoral victories in Texas’s Third Congressional District, where he defeated Sandeep Srivastava in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections by significant margins—securing over 60% of the vote each time.
