Rep. Keith Self, a U.S. Congressman who won re-election in 2024 with 62.5% of the vote, has used his social media platform to criticize Democratic policies regarding government spending and healthcare for undocumented immigrants.

On October 15, 2025, Self posted a series of tweets outlining his views on recent political developments. In one tweet, he wrote: “—Dems shut down the gov’t over free healthcare for illegal aliens

—Dems say they don’t care if troops miss pay, they’ll keep the gov’t closed

—Trump finds a way to pay troops

—Dems complain about Trump paying troops

This is the current state of the Democrat Party.” (posted October 15, 2025).

In another post later that day, Self referenced state-level policy decisions: “Oregon plans to spend $1.5B on free healthcare for illegal aliens and expects the federal government to cover 25% of the cost.

Democrats have shut down the government because they want to force American taxpayers to fund programs like this.

Republicans want to protect” (posted October 15, 2025).

Self also addressed federal health subsidies in a subsequent tweet: “2025 Budget Review Shows the United States Can’t Afford To Extend Biden’s ‘Temporary’ COVID-era Obamacare Subsidies

Congress MUST let them EXPIRE!” (posted October 15, 2025).

Rep. Keith Self has represented his district since defeating Sandeep Srivastava in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections, first winning with 60.5% of the vote in 2022 and increasing his margin in 2024.

The tweets come amid ongoing debates over government funding and healthcare spending at both state and federal levels.
