Rep. Keith Self, a U.S. Congressman who secured re-election victories in both 2022 and 2024, has posted a series of statements on social media criticizing Democrats over the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on service members and veterans.

On October 19, 2025, Self wrote, “It’s Day 19 of the Democrat Shutdown. One month ago today, @HouseGOP did our jobs to keep the government open and passed a clean CR. Since then, Democrats have held government funding hostage for their woke agenda. They need to stop the political games and pass the clean CR!”

The following day, he reiterated his stance, posting, “It’s Day 20 of the Democrat Shutdown. Over a month ago, @HouseGOP did our jobs to keep the government open and passed a clean CR. Since then, Democrats have held government funding hostage for their woke agenda. They need to stop the political games and pass the clean CR!”

Later on October 20, Self highlighted the impact of the shutdown on military personnel, stating, “Our service members and veterans have sacrificed for this nation—they deserve better than the Democrats’ political games.”

Keith Self, who defeated Sandeep Srivastava in the general elections of both 2022 and 2024, has consistently represented his district since first winning office. In the 2024 election, Self won with 62.5% of the vote, following a previous victory in 2022 with 60.5%.
