Rep. Keith Self, a U.S. Congressman who won reelection in 2024 with 62.5% of the vote against Sandeep Srivastava, has recently voiced criticism of federal policy and legislative priorities in a series of social media posts.

On October 8, 2025, Rep. Self wrote, “The primary beneficiaries of extending Biden’s COVID-era Obamacare subsidies aren’t patients—they’re insurance companies that are raking in billions by gaming the system while taxpayers bear the cost. Congress must stop this scam and let these subsidies expire as planned.”

Later the same day, he addressed the ongoing government shutdown, posting, “Schumer and his fellow Senate Democrats own this government shutdown. #SchumerShutdown https://t.co/D832RaoMTH”.

In another post on October 8, 2025, Rep. Self stated his support for legislation targeting followers of Sharia law: “I have cosponsored this bill by @RepChipRoy to let ICE deport adherents of Sharia. The United States should be a Sharia-free zone! https://t.co/RpKEcELlEA”.

Rep. Self, who also defeated Srivastava in the 2022 general election with 60.5% of the vote, is known for his conservative positions on healthcare and immigration policy.
