Rep. Keith Self, a U.S. Congressman who won re-election in both 2022 and 2024 against Sandeep Srivastava, posted a series of statements on October 20, 2025, regarding the ongoing government shutdown and the role of Senate Democrats.

In his first post at 19:30 UTC, Self addressed Senate Democrats directly: “Tonight, Senate Democrats will have another chance to vote YES on the clean House-passed CR and end this needless Schumer Shutdown! Just five more Democrats need to choose country over party and join Republicans in reopening the government. I hope they do the right thing!”

Later that evening at 20:42 UTC, he accused Democrats of having specific motives for the shutdown: “Democrats shut down the government because they want to force American taxpayers to pay for the healthcare of criminals like these. https://t.co/9vfRkviMEG”

At 21:59 UTC, Self further commented on intra-party dynamics among Democrats: ” Democrats say “they would have enough votes” to reopen the government if “people were not terrified of getting the guillotine” from the Far-Left. Democrats are letting the RADICAL LEFT hold the government hostage. https://t.co/skTlzfbjfW”

Keith Self has represented his district after winning general elections in both 2022 and 2024 by significant margins against Sandeep Srivastava—securing about 60.5% of votes in 2022 and increasing his share to approximately 62.5% in 2024.
