Senator Angela Paxton, a Republican representing Texas’s 8th Senate district since 2019, posted several updates on her social media account this week regarding recent legislative activity and the passing of a former colleague.
On September 2, 2025, Paxton shared news about the death of Jodie Laubenberg, a former State Representative. In her post, she stated: “I was saddened to hear that former State Representative Jodie Laubenberg has passed away. Jodie was instrumental in my decision to run for the Senate in 2017 and was the model of a true stateswoman. She will be greatly missed.”
Two days later, on September 4, Paxton reported on the conclusion of the Second Called Special Session of the 89th Texas Legislature. At 1:03 AM that morning, she wrote: “Early this morning at 1:03 AM the Texas Senate adjourned Sine Die concluding the Second Called Special Session of the 89th Legislature.
In the final hours yesterday important legislation moved forward to protect the unborn, safeguard woman in private spaces, eliminate the STAAR”.
