CITY OF ALLEN: Meet the 2020 Allen EDC Business Award Winners

City of Allen issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.

Allen Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) is excited to honor our top 2020 projects of the year. These award recipients all bring something different to our city and it is thrilling to celebrate and welcome them to Allen!

Highlands Residential Mortgage

"Top Headquarters Relocation"

The Dallas-based mortgage company is moving its headquarters to One Bethany West and is expected to move 200 people into the 25,735-square-foot space later this month. With a strong track record of philanthropy and volunteerism, Highlands will make an excellent addition to Allen's corporate community. Watch the award presentation on YouTube.

Ken Hickman, CEO of Highlands Residential Mortgage, says the company came to Allen from Dallas one year ago. 

“We chose Allen because of what the city has to offer,” said Ken. “We were impressed with the area, the restaurants, the amenities and the access. Hats off to Allen for being so forward thinking.”

“Our staff feels safe and connected in Allen. We’ve already had a half dozen employees relocate here!”

Crawford & Co.

"Top Corporate Relocation"

An 80-year-old firm and one of the world’s largest publicly listed independent providers of claims management and processing for the insurance industry, Crawford & Co. is leasing a 70,000-square-foot office facility on Greenville Avenue for their new operation. The Allen office will be used as a regional field office to house hundreds of adjusters when they are needed for specific claims events, such as storm damage, and is expected to have over 600 employees at various times of the year. “The world is changing along with the expectations of today’s policyholder,” said Ken Tolson, president of US Claims Solution Group. “Our team in Allen is growing, learning and adapting.”

Robert Simpson, president of US Catastrophe Services Carrier Practices, noted Crawford & Co. is on the leading edge of changing an industry in desperate need of innovation. “The Allen location will play a pivotal role as we seek to train the next generation of insurance adjusters.”

Brass Roots Technologies

"Top Build-To-Suit"

A developer of critical enabling technologies for advanced imaging and display applications, Brass Roots Technologies is moving its headquarters to their new facility at Prestige Circle in Allen. The 15,000-square-foot facility is double their current workspace. Their team of R&D engineers will be developing new and exciting technologies here in Allen! “We’re all about the people, the relationships and the experiences. We like working with companies and customers who appreciate our principles, which is why Allen was an easy choice for us.”

Micron Technology, Inc.

"Top Corporate Expansion"

An industry leader in innovative memory and storage solutions, Micron Technology, Inc. is expanding its design engineering operations and will move from their current location in Allen to One Bethany West next year. The One Bethany West site will house an estimated 112-200 employees and increases their space in Allen to 36,500 SF. Watch the award presentation on YouTube.

Tracey Cline, AEDC Business Retention manager, accepted the award on Micron’s behalf.

“I’m honored and humbled to accept this award on behalf of Micron,” says Tracey. “This company loves Allen so much they chose to stay here and grow into our brand-new office building at One Bethany West.”

“One of the biggest factors for Micron staying in Allen is all the wonderful amenities we provide. We are thrilled this company will continue to call Allen home.”
