Enrollment at Melissa ISD schools increased by 16% compared to previous school year

There were 5,654 students enrolled in Melissa ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 16% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.8% of them were boys, and 48.2% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 54.4% of the Melissa ISD total enrollment.

Melissa ISD roughly covers schools within Collin County with its main office in Melissa.

Among the six schools in Melissa ISD, Melissa High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,485 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
