How many African American students were enrolled in Plano ISD schools in 2022-23 school year?

There were 6,402 African American students enrolled in Plano ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.9% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Plano ISD schools welcomed 48,921 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 13.1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Plano ISD roughly covers schools within Collin County and has a main office in Plano.

Among the 74 schools in Plano ISD schools, Plano West Senior High School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 339 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
