Medical City McKinney has long walked the walk when it comes to caring for people, partly through a cherished holiday tradition of donating to local charities.
This year, the hospital donated $30,000 to two local charities: the Community Food Pantry received $10,000 and the McKinney Education Foundation received $20,000.
"We are proud of our annual holiday tradition to support these worthy organizations as part of our mission to the care and improvement of human life,” CEO Ernest C. Lynch III said in a release.
The Community Food Pantry of McKinney is a nonprofit organization that ensures needy families and individuals have food. The pantry provided over 452,600 meals to more than 22,200 people last year.
“The donations will help us keep pace with the substantial increases in the families we are serving, including purchasing new refrigeration/freezer equipment and hiring staff,” Steve Menchaca, executive director of Community Food Pantry of McKinney, said.
The McKinney Education Foundation raises funds for educational grants for McKinney ISD instructors, scholarships for graduates of McKinney high schools, and more.
“This directly impacts our ability to reach more McKinney ISD students and teachers through scholarships and grants,” Ashley Sine, McKinney Education Foundation executive director, said.
