Dr. David Hodum Named Principal of McKinney Boyd High School
McKinney, Texas – Dr. David Hodum has been appointed as the new principal of McKinney Boyd High School, following the departure of longtime principal Dr. Jennifer Peirson. The announcement was made by the McKinney Independent School District (MISD) on June 10, 2024.
Hodum returns to McKinney Boyd after a seven-year absence, having initially spent eight years there as a science teacher from 2009 to 2017. During his tenure at Boyd, he served as a chemistry and AP Physics teacher, physics team lead for three years, and science department chair for two years.
In 2017, Hodum transitioned to Dowell Middle School as an instructional coach before moving into campus administration at Evans Middle School in 2018 as an assistant principal. He was named principal of Evans in 2023.
"I am thrilled to come back to serve as principal at McKinney Boyd High School, where I started my career," said Hodum. "I look forward to preserving Boyd’s traditions, supporting academic achievement and extracurriculars—and keeping this magnificent school as special as it always has been. Go Broncos!"
In addition to his leadership roles within schools, Hodum contributed to the district as a curriculum writer from 2014 to 2017 and has been a member of the McKinney Innovation Team since 2019. He also served as summer school principal for two years.
Hodum holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University, a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Texas at Tyler, and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker University.
