Rep. Keith Self, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 3rd district, shared his concerns on September 30th about the legislative process regarding appropriations bills and government spending. The tweets highlight his stance on congressional responsibilities and fiscal management.

In a tweet posted on September 30, 2024, Rep. Self emphasized the deadline for Congress to complete passing the annual appropriations bills. He stated, "September 30th is the deadline for Congress to finish passing the 12 annual appropriations bills. The House has passed five, and the Senate has passed ZERO. The House and Senate need to get together on the remaining bills!" This tweet underscores his concern about legislative progress.

On the same day, he expressed opposition to an end-of-year financial strategy known as the Christmas Omnibus. In another tweet, he declared that "The Christmas Omnibus must be stopped. @SpeakerJohnson and House Republicans are committed to blocking an end of the year spending blowout." This statement reflects his commitment to preventing large-scale spending packages at year's end.

Rep. Self also criticized Senate leadership under Sen. Schumer in a subsequent post from September 30, asserting that "The Senate led by @SenSchumer is a complete disaster." He further elaborated that their inaction was paving the way for a significant year-end omnibus package by stating that they were "refusing to do their job, and pass appropriations bills."
