Four Parks and Recreation employees, along with members of the McKinney Fire Department, were acknowledged at the City Council meeting for their quick response during an emergency at the Senior Recreation Center. The incident occurred on June 27 when Lou Conner, a long-time member of the center, collapsed during an exercise class.

Pool managers Savanah Chavarria and Jaden Dawes assessed Conner's condition while Cianna Alliot, the Aquatics Coordinator, and Griffin White, the Aquatics Supervisor, initiated CPR. They used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to deliver a shock and continued performing CPR until EMS personnel from the McKinney Fire Department arrived.

In recognition of these efforts, Conner participated in a ceremony where he signed the McKinney Fire Department's Cardiac Arrest Survivor’s board. This tradition serves to honor cardiac arrest survivors and acknowledge both first responders and community members who contributed to saving lives.
