The City of McKinney has announced plans to spray four areas within the city limits to manage mosquito populations after tests revealed the presence of West Nile Virus in local mosquito pools. The spraying is scheduled to take place between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., contingent on weather conditions, and will encompass a one-mile radius around each identified location.

The spraying schedule is as follows:

- Monday, Oct. 7 at 2001 S. Central Expressway

- Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 1101 E. Louisiana St.

- Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 2996 W. Virginia Parkway

- Friday, Oct. 11 at 301 Peregrine Drive

To inform residents about the upcoming activities, signs will be placed at major intersections throughout the affected areas. Additionally, detailed information and maps outlining the spray zones are available on the city's official website: McKinneyTexas.org/MosquitoControl.

Residents living in these areas are encouraged to remain indoors during the spraying hours and are advised to bring pets inside for safety reasons. Those who prefer not to have their homes included in the spraying should reach out to City of McKinney Health Compliance by calling 972-547-7447.
