Project

City of Allen issued the following announcement on Jan. 23.

City of Allen has selected an architect to design Allen’s new Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center.

City Council approved an agreement with Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture to design the 149,000-square-foot facility, envisioned to complete and open in spring 2023.

The $54 million project includes site development of approximately 29 acres along Exchange Parkway near Rowlett Creek. Site improvements will support the recreation center with parking, utilities, outdoor gathering areas, and walking trails connecting to the existing Allen trail system.

Conceptual input was collected from citizens in three public meetings, five workshops and an online survey over the course of 12 months. These responses helped prioritize key features of the future facility.
