Rep. Keith Self, serving Texas’ 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently shared his perspectives on government spending and disinformation via tweets. Self, originally from Philadelphia and currently residing in McKinney, Texas, has expressed concerns about the efficacy and transparency of federal operations.
On April 2, 2025, Self aligned himself with Rep. Scott Perry in a tweet criticizing the federal government's financial management, stating, ".@RepScottPerry is right. There is massive waste and fraud in our bloated federal government. The Senate’s proposed $3 billion cut doesn’t even scratch the surface of what is necessary after years of mismanagement. Senators need to get serious and do their jobs!" He underscored the need for more profound budgetary reforms beyond the proposed cuts.
Later that day, Self responded to fellow representative Julie Johnson regarding his remarks, defending his statements about Nina Jankowicz. He tweeted, ".@RepJulieJohnson, your framing is completely misleading. I was referring to the philosophy of Nina Jankowicz, the former head of Biden’s Disinformation Governance Board. Probably best not to throw stones when your party supported funneling millions of dollars through Biden’s". Self contends that Johnson's characterization of his comments was inaccurate.
Rep. Self also commented on his media appearance, tweeting about his participation in a House Foreign Affairs GOP hearing on April 2, 2025. He shared, "Great being featured on @FoxNews and @AmericaNewsroom regarding yesterday’s @HouseForeignGOP hearing, raising awareness about the Biden administration’s disinformation campaign to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story. Veritas! @shellenberger". This tweet highlights his involvement in scrutinizing the administration's communications strategies.
