(Washington, D.C.) Congressman Keith Self joined an amicus curiae brief which challenges the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approval and deregulation of chemical abortion drugs. This brief, written by Americans for Life, was filed for the case of Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA, in support of the ruling by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, which suspends the Food and Drug Administration's approval and regimen of chemical abortion drugs. The brief denotes the failure of the FDA to adhere to its legal duty to protect women stating “Fundamentally, chemical abortion drugs pose serious health and safety risks to women and girls. The FDA’s deregulation of the drugs only exacerbates those risks.”
If the government places genuine value on women’s health and safety, it becomes apparent that the endorsement of these drugs is unacceptable. His motivation in joining this brief is the hope the Supreme Court prioritizes the safety of women, girls, and the unborn and keeps the stay from the Northern District of Texas.
