On September 8, Congressman Keith Self introduced a bill to eliminate the HUD Equity Action Plan of the Department of Housing and Urban Development—a new set of regulations enacted by the Biden administration.

“This is a gross overstep of the powers of the federal government and will end up impeding the abilities of state and local governments to properly govern,” said Congressman Keith Self. “HUD has failed to acknowledge that sustained upward mobility is based on the constructive life decisions made at the family level — including marriage and employment.”

These rules broaden the scope of the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Equity Action Plan and require cities nationwide to create their own “equity action plans.” President Biden’s HUD bureaucracy has no rightful place to implement such regulations that will disrupt markets and impede local leaders from effectively governing.
