This summer, as students and staff took a break, extensive updates were carried out at dozens of campuses.
At 57 campuses and district facilities, improvements were implemented under the 2018 voter-approved bond. Frisco ISD has 22 campuses that are at least 20 years old, with an additional 28 campuses expected to reach the 20-year milestone by 2030. Construction crews have been working over the past several months to renovate and maintain several FISD campuses.
Summer projects included paint and carpet upgrades, installation of technology updates, and new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Regularly scheduled maintenance occurs at five-, ten-, fifteen-, and twenty-year intervals.
Two campuses received upgrades to their HVAC controls and systems. Seven campuses and facilities received a full or partial coat of paint. Five campuses underwent full carpet replacement. One campus had its cafeteria flooring replaced. Six campuses installed new boilers.
The District replaces technology on a refresh schedule to ensure tools remain in good condition. As equipment is updated, network infrastructure is also enhanced to support new devices.
Nine elementary schools and five secondary schools received refreshed desktop computers, Chromebooks, document cameras, and printers. Thirteen campuses acquired new projectors. Thirty schools and District facilities either received or are receiving updates to network equipment, including wireless access points.
Two tracks underwent structural spray and restripe procedures. One campus track was fully replaced. Another campus received turf replacement at its stadium and field house. The Career and Technical Education Center expansion was completed with a new wing added, an existing wing renovated, increasing student capacity to 7,000.
