The Collin County Citizen Prosecutor Academy (CCCPA) is set to commence its spring session on March 7, 2024, as announced by District Attorney Greg Willis. This program offers a unique opportunity for participants to gain insight into the operations of the justice system.
"The CCCPA offers a behind-the-scenes look at the process," stated Willis. The program aims to provide an educational experience by allowing participants to engage with prosecutors, investigators, detectives, and judges.
The free 12-week program will be held every Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Applications are open until January 11, 2024. Interested individuals can apply online or call Shelly Pingsterhaus at 972-548-4478 for further inquiries.
To participate, applicants must pass a background check and meet attendance requirements. They must also be at least 18 years old.
Participants in the CCCPA will have the chance to understand "the role of the DA and the criminal justice system through open dialogue with the District Attorney’s leadership." Upon completion, they will be equipped to share their insights on how the District Attorney's office collaborates with law enforcement agencies in pursuit of justice.
