The Wakeland High School golf team emerged victorious in the 2024 Frisco Cup, marking their third consecutive win in this annual competition. The tournament, which took place on November 1-2, featured all 12 high schools from the Frisco Independent School District. It was held for the first time at the PGA Fields Ranch East and West courses in Frisco.

Wakeland secured the top position with a total score of 572, followed by Frisco with 594 points. Centennial and Independence tied for third place with scores of 595 each. The event combined scores from both girls' and boys' teams to determine the overall champion.

In individual performances, Luke Colton from Wakeland claimed the boys' title with a score of 131, while Megan Lee from Independence won the girls' championship with a score of 141.

The mixed fourball category saw Luke Colton teaming up with Aashi Vakta from Wakeland to secure first place with a score of 131. Addison Reilly and Ryan Shirey from Frisco finished second, scoring 135.

Reflecting on past tournaments, Wakeland has consistently shown strong performances since winning in 2022 and 2023. Prior winners include Centennial in 2021 and Liberty dominating several years before that.

The event is significant as it not only showcases young talent but also utilizes premier golfing venues set to host future professional tournaments.
