The McKinney Community Development Corporation (MCDC) has announced the recipients of its 2024 project grants, aimed at enhancing quality-of-life projects within the community. The announcement followed a review process where MCDC board members evaluated grant applications and listened to presentations detailing the potential impact of proposed programs.

Several projects have been selected for funding. These include major renovations at Erwin Park, which will see upgrades to facilities, the addition of showers, entrance signage, and an overlook. This project is led by the City of McKinney Parks and Recreation Department. The department will also create practice fields and add entrance signage at Gabe Nesbitt Community Park.

Other recipients include the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County, which plans to upgrade their indoor athletics facility; the YMCA of McKinney, set to replace equipment in preparation for reopening a public-accessible playground; McKinney Main Street, tasked with refreshing Downtown McKinney's Christmas decorations; and Sanchez Charities, working on a Collaborative Resource Center for local nonprofit service providers.

“These projects align directly with MCDC strategic priorities and our mission to work as a partner to fund community, cultural, and economic development projects in McKinney,” stated MCDC Board Chair Angela Richardson-Woods. “Our vision to enhance the quality of life for residents of all ages and backgrounds is evident in these awarded grants.”

Further information about these projects or other promotional and community event grants can be found on their website at McKinneyCDC.org.
