Literature enthusiasts and aspiring authors in the Dallas-Fort Worth area will have a new opportunity to connect with local writers at the inaugural McKinney Literary Fest. The event, hosted by the McKinney Public Library System, is scheduled for August 17-18 at the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library.
The festival's first day will feature interactions with over 60 local authors. It begins with a keynote address from Dave Lieber, an investigative columnist for the Dallas Morning News. The day will include author readings and conclude with a networking reception at The Comedy Arena.
On Sunday, aspiring authors can attend panel discussions led by industry experts and accomplished writers. Topics such as publishing, creative writing, freelance writing, memoirs, and fiction will be covered. Workshops are also planned to enhance participants' skills.
Spencer Smith, Director of the McKinney Public Library System, stated: "The response to our inaugural literary fest has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting a significant need in our community. While established authors with major publishing contracts have their platforms, our festival is filling a crucial gap by providing a stage for self-published authors and those aspiring to secure a book deal."
The event is supported by Visionary Sponsors Calloway's Nursery and H-E-B, along with Ambassador Sponsors including Visit McKinney and The Comedy Arena. The McKinney Public Library Foundation has also contributed significantly.
The McKinney Literary Fest is free to attend. For more details on registration and the schedule of events, visit McKinneyPublicLibrary.org/LiteraryFest.
