Rep. Keith Self, representing Texas' 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared his thoughts and emotions through a series of tweets. A member of Congress since 2023, Self, accompanied by his wife Tracy, offered condolences and took a stance on global leadership and Western values in his public statements.

On April 3, 2025, in a heartfelt statement, Self expressed his condolences for the loss of Austin Metcalf. "Absolutely heartbreaking," he wrote, extending his and his wife's prayers to Metcalf's family and friends, wishing for peace for the deceased.

Later that same day, Self remarked on a significant lesson in leadership for European partners, highlighting its importance on the international stage. "This is a tremendous lesson in leadership for our European partners to consider," he stated, illustrating his concern with diplomatic and international leadership matters.

In a related post made shortly thereafter, Self emphasized the importance of shared Western values in the face of global challenges. "Once again, civilization stands at a crossroads, so it is crucial that we stand together and work together toward our shared Western values — freedom, democracy, and the rule of law," Self urged, with a link to an article from Daily Caller providing further context on his perspective.
