The City of McKinney has announced plans to spray two areas within the city limits to control mosquito populations after a positive test for West Nile Virus was found in a local mosquito pool. The spraying is scheduled to take place between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., weather permitting, and will encompass a one-mile radius around the locations where the virus was detected.

The specific areas targeted for spraying include 4269 Eldorado Parkway on Tuesday, October 1, and 2800 Barnsley Drive on Wednesday, October 2. To keep residents informed, signs will be placed at major intersections indicating the spraying activity. Additionally, detailed information and maps of the affected areas will be available on the city's website at McKinneyTexas.org/MosquitoControl.

Residents living in these areas are advised to remain indoors during the spraying period and are encouraged to bring their pets inside for safety. Those who prefer not to have their homes sprayed can contact City of McKinney Health Compliance at 972-547-7447 for assistance.
