It was a competitive night for basketball playoffs on Tuesday, as Frisco ISD teams faced crucial matches. The Heritage boys' basketball team emerged victorious, securing their place in the Class 5A Division I Region II championship game by defeating Red Oak with a score of 66-53. They are set to face West Mesquite at The Colony High School on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Memorial girls and boys basketball teams, however, experienced losses in their respective playoff games. The Memorial girls' team competed in the 5A Division II state semifinals against Lubbock Monterey. Despite making a strong comeback from a 40-25 halftime deficit to take the lead in the fourth quarter, they were narrowly defeated with a final score of 60-57.
Similarly, the Memorial boys played against Waco University in the 5A Division II Region II semifinals. Their game extended into two overtimes before concluding with a close loss of 79-75.
The upcoming match between Heritage and West Mesquite is scheduled for Friday at The Colony High School as part of the Boys 5A Division I Region II championship.
