State Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, raised a call for prayer in the wake of a devastating storm that raced through Blue Ridge, spawning the second tornado this year.

According to an article on Yahoo.com, the storm that hit Blue Ridge resulted in a tornado, the second to hit the area this year, resulting in damage to a number of structures and leaving debris in its path early Tuesday. The article, citing the National Weather Service, noted a dozen twisters struck the north Texas region.

“I and my team are on our way to check on our friends and neighbors in #HD67,” Leach said in a post on Twitter. “Please pray for this wonderful community in the aftermath of today’s devastating storm.”

CBS News reported that students in the Blue Ridge Independent School District were safe but classes were dismissed due to the damage in the area, and a cemetery had headstones, some more than 120 years old, broken.

Several people in Grapevine were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries, though no injuries were reported in Blue Ridge, according to CBS.

According to the CBS news report, the National Weather Service was scheduled to survey the damage left behind by the tornado.
