Frisco ISD athletes made a notable impact at the 5A Region II Cross Country Championships held on Tuesday at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. Three teams from Frisco ISD have advanced to the state meet, with four individual runners finishing among the top five.

The Wakeland boys and girls teams both secured second place finishes, earning them spots in the UIL state meet scheduled for November 2 in Round Rock. The Reedy girls team also qualified by finishing fourth.

On the boys' side, standout performances included Heritage's Josh McCartney who took second place, Lebanon Trail's Andrew Malan who finished third, and Reedy's Daniel Escribano who came in sixth. They will compete at the state level alongside Lebanon Trail’s Nathaniel Guajardo, who finished tenth, and Reedy’s Alex Roeren, who placed thirteenth.

In the girls' category, Wakeland’s Presley Robertson achieved a third-place finish while Reedy’s Vanesa Gonzalez-Rodiles secured fifth place. Liberty’s Sofia Golladay and Independence’s Avery Clements also qualified for the state meet by finishing twelfth and sixteenth respectively.
