The city of McKinney is preparing for its annual Christmas tree lighting event, scheduled for November 29 in downtown McKinney. Residents are encouraged to participate in the "McKinney Christmas Tree – A Gift to the Community" campaign, now in its ninth year. This initiative aims to gather funds for a 35-foot frosted fir tree from Michigan, which will be placed in Historic Downtown McKinney.

Corporate sponsor H-E-B supports this year's campaign. Contributions of $35 or more are tax-deductible and will earn families and organizations recognition at the tree display throughout the holiday season. The first 150 donors who contribute at least $35 will also receive a commemorative ornament as a token of appreciation.

Andrew Jones, Director of the McKinney Cultural District, expressed enthusiasm about continuing this tradition: "We are thrilled to continue this beloved tradition and bring the McKinney Christmas Tree to our community once again," he said. "The tree represents the joy that the holiday season brings, and we invite everyone to join us in making this year's tree the most spectacular yet."

The official Tree Lighting Ceremony is set for Friday, November 29, at 6:15 p.m., located at Historic Downtown McKinney on 200 N. Kentucky St. Those interested in donating can find more information online at McKinneyTexas.org/ChristmasTree. The campaign will run until December 4.
