Centennial wins District 8-5A wrestling championship; FISD dominates weight classes

The wrestling teams from all 12 Frisco Independent School District (FISD) high schools compete in the same University Interscholastic League (UIL) athletic district, making the District 8-5A Championship a notable event. The championship began with the boys' competition on Wednesday.

Centennial High School emerged victorious in the boys' category of the 8-5A Championship, scoring 232.5 points. They were followed by Reedy High School with 175.5 points and Frisco High School with 166 points. Emerson High School scored 152.5 points and Wakeland High School scored 146.5 points to round out the top five in the district, which also includes The Colony High School.

Wrestlers from Centennial, Emerson, Frisco, Lone Star, Reedy, and Wakeland won titles across 13 weight classes during the competition.

The championship will continue with the girls' competition on Thursday at Memorial High School.
