Students in grades five through eleven are faced with important decisions regarding their schedules for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year. Various resources, including the Middle and High School Academic Guides and an online Course Catalog, are available to assist them.
The deadline for course registration in Frisco Independent School District (FISD) is February 13, 2025, though individual campuses may have different deadlines. Current fifth graders will complete sixth-grade course cards with assistance from families and counselors. Required courses include Social Studies, Science, Integrated Language Arts (ILA), Math, Academy Connect, and Physical Education. Students can choose one elective from options such as orchestra or band after attending an event to select their instrument.
Sixth and seventh graders will have more flexibility in their schedules. Seventh-grade students must take Texas History, while eighth graders will study U.S. History. Physical Education options vary by grade level, with seventh graders choosing from athletics or other PE courses and eighth graders having PE as an elective option.
Eighth-grade students should consider their four-year high school plan in consultation with family members and counselors. Required credits for graduation include English, math, science, social studies, world language, technology, fine arts, health education, professional communication, physical education, and additional electives.
High school students have opportunities to explore Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses that provide skills for high-demand careers and potential professional certifications. The Navy JROTC program offers leadership training at Lebanon Trail High School. The International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Frisco High School challenges students academically.
For current ninth through eleventh graders designing their final years of high school schedules for 2025-26, dual credit options are available through partnerships with institutions like Collin College and the University of North Texas's North Texas Now! program.
Parents and students are encouraged to consult campus counselors for guidance on schedule choices.
