The District 8-5A championships are approaching for Frisco ISD wrestling teams, which are all in the same district. The 13-team University Interscholastic League District 8-5A includes all FISD wrestling teams and The Colony High School.

The district meet is scheduled for January 29-30 at Memorial High School. Leading up to this event, wrestlers will participate in dual matches and tournaments over the next two weeks.

This week, two FISD teams will also compete in the Texas State Dual Championships. The Centennial boys team and Frisco girls team will participate in the Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association event on Friday in Wichita Falls. Each draw has 16 teams competing, starting at 8:30 a.m. Friday when the Frisco girls take on Amarillo Tascosa and the Centennial boys face Leander.

According to Wrestling Texas, the Frisco girls team is currently ranked No. 1 in the state, while the Centennial boys are No. 5. Additionally, the Centennial girls are ranked No. 4 and Lebanon Trail girls No. 7.
