Frisco ISD swimmers and divers secured numerous medals at the District 9-5A and 10-5A Swimming and Diving Championships held at Bruce Eubanks Natatorium last week. The Reedy girls and Wakeland boys emerged victorious in the District 9-5A, while both the Centennial boys and girls teams claimed titles in District 10-5A. Runners-up included the Wakeland girls and Reedy boys in 9-5A, as well as Liberty girls and Heritage boys in 10-5A.
Notable individual honors were awarded during these events. At the 9-5A meet, Jackson Armour from Wakeland was named TISCA Boys Swimmer of the Meet, with Lone Star’s Ellyette Kohlschmidt earning Girls Diver of the Meet recognition. Coaching accolades went to Jenny Beagle of Reedy for Girls Coach of the Meet, Griffin Marshall of Wakeland for Boys Coach of the Meet, and Claudia Sunday received honors as Boys and Girls Diving Coach of the Meet for her work with all FISD divers.
The 10-5A meet saw Centennial’s MacKenzie Corbin honored as TISCA Girls Swimmer of the Meet alongside James Coffman from Centennial as Boys Swimmer of the Meet. Independence’s Sadie Porter received recognition as Girls Diver of the Meet, while Memorial’s Shourya Jampala was named Boys Diver of the Meet. Emerson's Kelsey Johnson took home Girls Coach of the Meet honors, with Catie Navidad from Heritage and Zach Gnoza from Liberty being named Boys Coaches of the Meet.
In previous competitions, Panther Creek's girls team won their District 7-4A championship while their boys finished third.
The upcoming regional meets are scheduled next: Panther Creek will participate in the 4A Region II meet on January 30th and 31st at Bruce Eubanks Natatorium; other FISD schools will compete in the 5A Region III meet on February 6th through February 8th at Bruce Eubanks Natatorium.
