Frisco ISD girls basketball teams concluded their regular season on Tuesday night, with Memorial, Wakeland, and Panther Creek claiming district championships in their respective categories. Memorial completed its district games undefeated with a 14-0 record in the 11-5A category. Similarly, Panther Creek achieved a perfect 12-0 record in the 9-4A district. Wakeland finished strong as well, securing the title with a 13-1 record in the 12-5A district.
The teams are now preparing for the playoffs, which will be organized differently this year due to changes implemented by the University Interscholastic League (UIL) for the 2024-25 school year. The UIL has introduced separate Division I and Division II brackets for each classification from 2A to 6A based on school enrollment figures.
As a result of these changes, Frisco ISD's playoff representation will span across three different brackets:
5A Division I: Wakeland, Heritage, Emerson
5A Division II: Memorial, Liberty, Lone Star
4A Division I: Panther Creek
The initial round of playoff games is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 10-11). Specific dates and times for these matchups are expected to be announced soon, after which tickets will become available for purchase. Teams that advance will compete at the UIL state championship games set to take place on Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
"Go Frisco ISD!"
