On February 5, 2025, Rep. Self expressed criticism towards Democrats and the media regarding their focus on cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE). He remarked, "Democrats and the fake news have lost their minds so much over @DOGE that they’ve stopped crying over the criminal illegal aliens being arrested now."
Later that day, he announced the introduction of a bill to rename a postal facility in Greenville, Texas. The proposed name change honors Officer Cooper Dawson of the Greenville Police Department, who was killed in the line of duty. Rep. Self stated, "Today, I introduced a bill to rename the United States Postal Service facility at 2600 Wesley Street in Greenville, Texas, to the 'Cooper Dawson Post Office Building' in honor of fallen Greenville Police Department Officer Cooper Dawson."
In another post on February 5th, Rep. Self criticized financial aid allocations by USAID under the Biden administration. He highlighted specific expenditures he deemed controversial: "$3.3 million for 'being LGBTQ in the Caribbean,' $1.1 million to an Armenian 'LGBT group,' $7.9 million to teach Sri Lankan..."
