Rep. Keith Self, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 3rd district, shared his views on fiscal matters in a series of tweets. Representing the constituents of his district, Rep. Self's comments on Medicaid spending and national debt are a continuation of his engagement in budgetary and financial policy discussions.

On April 14, 2025, Rep. Self tweeted: "Your tax dollars paid for the Medicaid benefits that liberals want to use for illegal aliens." This statement reflects his concerns over the allocation of federal funds within the Medicaid program, emphasizing his stance on spending priorities and immigration.

Later that day, at 18:15 UTC, he addressed the national debt issue: "Our adversaries view the growing $36 trillion debt - caused by deficit spending - as the way to destroy America without firing a shot… They are right. Cutting spending through the reconciliation process is where Making America Great Again begins. " Here, Rep. Self focused on the implications of national debt and suggested that reducing spending could bolster America's strength.

The following day, on April 15, Rep. Self remarked on the potential leadership of a government official in fiscal recovery: "If @SecScottBessent succeeds in turning around America’s debt and deficit, history will remember him as a leader who truly changed the nation's course." This acknowledged Secretary Scott Bessent's efforts in addressing the federal debt and deficit, applauding the ambitious fiscal reforms underway. Keith Self, originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, born in 1953, lives in McKinney and has been representing the 3rd District of Texas since 2023, succeeding Van Taylor.
