Frisco ISD's swimming and diving teams made a strong impression at the 5A Region III Championships, with Reedy and Wakeland securing regional titles. The Reedy girls team, current defending 5A state champions, took first place in the region. They were followed by Centennial in second place and Wakeland in third. On the boys' side, Wakeland clinched the region title, with Reedy taking second place and Centennial finishing third.
Overall, Frisco ISD athletes won 20 out of 24 events at the meet. This success comes on the heels of Panther Creek girls winning a 4A regional championship just a week prior.
Several individual honors were awarded: MacKenzie Corbin from Centennial was named TISCA Girls Swimmer of the Meet; Ella Pitts from Reedy received Girls Diver of the Meet; Jackson Armour from Wakeland was recognized as Boys Swimmer of the Meet. The TISCA Coaches of the Meet awards went to Jenny Beagle (Reedy girls), Griffin Marshall (Wakeland boys), and Claudia Sunday (Frisco ISD diving).
The top ten rankings for both boys' and girls' teams were announced. For boys: Wakeland led with 439 points, followed by Reedy with 292 points, and Centennial with 255 points among others. For girls: Reedy topped with 460 points, while Centennial scored 287 points and Wakeland achieved 273 points.
In specific event victories for Frisco ISD: Mackenzie Corbin won both Girls' 200 free and Girls' 500 free; Kurt Owens claimed Boys' 200 free; Veronica Shofran secured Girls' 200 IM; Jackson Armour triumphed in Boys' 200 IM as well as Boys’100 breaststroke among other notable wins.
Team relay performances included significant victories such as Centennial’s win in Girls’200 Medley Relay and Wakeland’s triumphs in multiple relay categories including Boys’400 Free Relay.
