Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis has announced the sentencing of Mike Douglas Stoker, a 44-year-old from Farmersville, Texas. Stoker received a 47-year prison sentence after being convicted by a jury for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.

In April and May of 2024, Collin and Hunt Counties experienced a series of thefts and burglaries. Investigator Tristan Varvil from the Collin County Sheriff's Office identified Mike Stoker as the perpetrator, noting his history of felony convictions.

In May 2024, during surveillance operations, deputies witnessed Stoker attempting to steal an ATM using a stolen truck. While Stoker managed to flee, his accomplice was apprehended. This arrest led investigators to obtain and execute a search warrant at Stoker's residence.

Inside the residence, Investigator Robert Merritt found over 70 grams of methamphetamine in a nightstand along with scales, empty baggies, and doses ready for distribution—evidence pointing to drug trafficking activities. McKinney Police Narcotics Detective Joe Arp testified that the amount found equated to more than 280 doses, indicating intent beyond personal use. Further evidence was provided by Wylie Police Detective Chris Meehan through forensic analysis of Stoker’s phone which revealed numerous conversations related to drug sales.

Following the guilty verdict, prosecutors presented evidence of Stoker's extensive criminal record comprising 17 prior convictions including 11 felonies for drug trafficking and firearm offenses. Since 2000, he had been incarcerated multiple times in state jail and federal prison for various offenses including being a felon in possession of a firearm. Despite receiving four years in Hunt County in 2021 and being on parole at the time of these new crimes in Collin County in 2024, he continued his illegal activities.

Judge Benjamin Smith imposed the sentence following Texas law which mandates a minimum sentence due to prior convictions.

District Attorney Greg Willis stated: "For decades, Mike Stoker has stolen, sold poison, and shattered lives across Collin, Dallas, Grayson, and Hunt Counties. Prison didn’t stop him before but now behind bars he can’t do it again."

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Rachael Kroeger and Jamin Daly led the prosecution with support from District Attorney Investigator Jennifer Gomez.
