Collin County's new Tax Assessor-Collector, Scott Grigg, began his term on January 1, 2025. He succeeds Ken Maun, who retired after four decades of service. Grigg has been part of the office for years, most recently as the Financial Operations Manager. "Having worked within the office for years, I understand the importance of both familiarity with the work and the laws that govern it," he said. "It made sense for me to step in and help lead the office forward."
Grigg acknowledges the challenge of following someone with Maun's legacy but is eager to bring fresh ideas to the role. "For many, change can be unsettling," he explained, "but for others, the chance to introduce new ideas and improve processes is something they look forward to. I’m excited to bring my vision of a more efficient and accessible office to life."
One of Grigg’s priorities is enhancing customer service while safeguarding taxpayer money. He aims to improve processes and integrate technology in response to Collin County's growth. "We’re already working hard to expand online services, offering pay-by-phone options, and exploring other ways to serve residents more efficiently," he said. As the county expands, Grigg recognizes the need for more efficient services: "The growth of the county presents both opportunities and challenges. Our goal is to find better ways to serve the public while keeping up with demand," he added.
With over 35 years in finance, accounting, and auditing, Grigg brings extensive experience in managing complex operations. His background includes working with some of the world's largest companies. This experience prepares him well for overseeing an office that collects over $4 billion annually and issues more than 1.5 million receipts. Yet it's his commitment to public service that drives him: "The most rewarding part of public service is helping people—whether that’s answering their questions or guiding them through difficult situations," he shared.
Outside work, Grigg enjoys outdoor activities, attending Dallas Stars games, and spending time with his wife Amy. He's completed 54 half marathons and two full marathons in five years. "I’ve always believed in working hard and staying dedicated," Scott said. "That discipline carries over into every aspect of my life." Under his leadership, Collin County residents can expect an efficient office ready for growth challenges.
