The Frisco Independent School District (FISD) Athletics Hall of Honor inducted its Class of 2025 during a luncheon on January 23. The event celebrated two teams and eight individuals for their contributions to FISD athletics, which encompasses 12 high schools and around 12,000 student-athletes.
The newly inducted members join the initial group honored in January 2024. Details about all inductees can be found on the Hall of Honor website.
Among the recognized teams are the Centennial boys wrestling team from 2014-15, noted for consecutive state championships in Class 4A/5A, and the Wakeland girls soccer team from 2011, which won the Class 4A state championship.
Individual athletes include Jay Ajayi from Liberty High School, Charlotte Jones Simmons from Frisco High School, Kene Nwangwu from Heritage High School, Bill Westhoff from Frisco High School, and Randy Yates also from Frisco High School. These athletes were acknowledged for their achievements across multiple sports.
Coaches David Kuykendall and Janie Litchford were also honored. Kuykendall served as a football coach at Frisco High School before becoming FISD Athletic Director. Litchford has been coaching multiple sports since 1986.
Additionally, Deeter Smothermon was recognized as a contributor for his long-term support of FISD athletics.
