Dr. Elizabeth Ventura has been appointed as the new Chief Medical Examiner for Collin County. With a career inspired by forensic shows like CSI, Dr. Ventura expressed her early interest in the field: “It may sound weird, but I’ve wanted to do autopsies since high school.”
Dr. Ventura spent 12 years at the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office, where she completed her fellowship and gained significant experience. She noted, “Dallas is a busy office, with cases not just from the county but from surrounding areas too. The variety of cases and mentorship from my former Chief prepared me well for this new role.” Her transition to Collin County was unplanned but timely, as she stated, “Coming here wasn’t something I planned, but the opportunity came at the right time, and everything just fell into place.”
Her work focuses on compassion and helping families find closure regarding their loved ones' deaths. Dr. Ventura approaches her duties with care and dedication to making a difference.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Ventura is dedicated to her family life with three children. She balances her time between work responsibilities and family activities such as homework assistance and sports practices.
Describing herself as a “neat freak,” “zealous” goal-setter, and “master organizer,” these traits serve her well both at home and professionally. In addition to her medical career interests, she enjoys documentaries, particularly murder mysteries.
Dr. Ventura's appointment brings not only expertise but also passion for her work to Collin County.
