Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced that William Hasley, 42, of Saline, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison without parole. A jury found Hasley guilty of the continuous sexual abuse of a child.

The abuse took place when the victim was seven years old and living in Frisco, Texas. Hasley had regular access to the child and used this trust to commit the abuse over several months. The victim disclosed the abuse at age 15 to a friend who then reported it to Child Protective Services, prompting an investigation.

Detective Nessa McFarland from the Frisco Police Department led the case. The victim provided a detailed account during a forensic interview that supported the evidence against Hasley.

Hasley was convicted of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, which is a first-degree felony requiring a sentence without parole. During sentencing, jurors learned about Hasley's prior felony conviction for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, for which he served ten years in prison. The jury decided on a 40-year sentence.

District Attorney Greg Willis commented on the verdict: “This child suffered terrible abuse from someone they should have been able to trust. Because of their bravery, the friend who spoke up, and the hard work of law enforcement and our prosecutors, justice has been served. This verdict makes one thing clear: no child will be ignored, and no abuser will get away with it in Collin County.”

Judge Rayburn Nall presided over the case while Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Charles Brazell and Nicole DeVincenzi prosecuted it. They were assisted by District Attorney Investigators Kim Voigt-Eanes and Greg Bowers, Victim Assistance Coordinator Valerie Miller, and Legal Secretary Christy Ware.

The DA’s office urges anyone aware of abuse to report it. Support is available through organizations like The Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center and The Turning Point. Reports can be made via Child Protective Services’ Texas Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400 or txabusehotline.org.
